A Smart and Modern Entryway Renovation

When moving into a new home, you want to make a great first impression for your guests. With a little help from The Home Depot, Jacki Quinones was able to make this front entryway feel like home to her.

When we moved into our home a few months back, we knew a new front door was in our near future. The one in place was original to the home and not in the best condition at all, besides being extremely underwhelming to look at.

Once we completed our entire kitchen renovation, we started the planning process of creating a smart and modern entryway with the help of our home away from home, The Home Depot.

The Before

As you can see in the before photo, the door lacks interest. When you take in the view of the entire front of our home, the doors seem to blend right in. We wanted our entryway to be warm and inviting while allowing plenty of light inside.

For every space we’ve renovated in this house thus far, it’s been extremely helpful to create a design board and really narrow down the feel, colors and texture.

Since the exterior of the house is white and we wanted the front door to pop, we selected a rich chestnut color double front door. The color is gorgeous and matches our farmhouse style we have indoors.

For those that aren’t comfortable DIY’ing an exterior door replacement, The Home Depot provides an installation service along with a free in-store consultation. They can send someone to your home to take measurements and place you in contact with a local licensed company for installation.

The After

Once installation was complete, the fun began! We selected a smart keyless entry lock that was compatible with our smart home assistant. We chose the Schlage Connect because it features a built-in alarm technology that will alert you of any activity, tampering or forced entry along with featuring a fingerprint-resistant touchscreen for added safety.

Entryway Decor

Once the doors and new smart lock was installed properly, I had some fun decorating. We chose large black planters to go on either side of the double doors, filled with faux floral stems.

A can of matte black spray paint updated the original doorbell button for a fraction of the cost of replacing it. Large faux green wreaths were hung on each of the double doors.

I love the look of layered rugs and buffalo check mats are a signature farmhouse style.

We are overall thrilled with the transformation of our front entryway and the quality of the Krosswood Doors we selected. Our existing doors were replaced with a stylish yet safe entryway for our family. Thank you to The Home Depot for another successful home project!
