Charleston Crafted Porch Refresh
We’re decorating our home for the holidays and decided that this was a great time to refresh our front porch!
There’s no better time to for a front porch refresh than a major holiday. We were looking for some great decor to refresh our porch for the holidays and loved the holiday collection available at The Home Depot!
The Front Door
When it comes to holiday decor, we decided to base everything around a wreath. Since a wreath is front and center on your door, it’s a good idea to make things work with that piece. We chose the 30 inch flocked pine artificial wreath, which came pre-decorated with blue and gold balls, as well as picks, pine cones and a dusting of snow. We love the elegance and simplicity of the wreath and thought it looked perfect for our door.
Another great thing was that this wreath was part of a collection that included six foot strands of garland and a four foot tall mini Christmas tree with twinkle lights that we could use as part of our front porch refresh. The garland looks great around our door and the tree is great for aesthetics and blocks our outlet where all our lights plug in.
Layered Door Mats
We also added two doormats to replace an old crusty one we had before. Layering two doormats adds a bit of depth and a unique look that allows you to make your own style. We used a blue and white rug, which is very much in our style, as the base and then matched it with a seasonally appropriate rug on top.
Festive Accessories
We paired all of this decor with some great string lights and some homemade decor that we’ve used before, like these wood slice reindeer! We added several items to our three-tiered plant stand to add to the holiday cheer.
The Porch Lights
We also refreshed our front porch by swapping out our hardwired porch lights. The lights we had were original and looked like they were the same as all the other porch lights that were put on houses built in the 1990s. We swapped them out for some Hampton Bay wall mount lanterns that look like they belong outside of a traditional fishing village. These coastal lights are very similar to the lights we have indoors and we love the seeded glass look. This improvement will last long past the holidays!
Every so often, it’s important to refresh your front porch. It keeps your visitors on their toes and keeps you happy to pull up to your front door (as if you didn’t have other reasons!). The holidays are a perfect time for a front porch refresh, so jump over to The Home Depot and shop their holiday collection now!
